Gateway East Momentum: Groundbreaking for SpringHill Suites by Marriott Hotel Marks Major Milestone at Mesa Gateway Airport

MESA, ARIZONA (Feb. 19, 2026) – Mesa Gateway Airport Authority (MGAA), The Boyer Company, and Western States Lodging Management and Development (WSLMD) today celebrated the groundbreaking of a new SpringHill Suites by Marriott Hotel within Gateway East,a 270-acre master-planned business park at Mesa Gateway Airport. The project represents a major step forward in meeting the growing hospitality demand driven by record passenger activity at the Airport, expanding aerospace and manufacturing investment, and continued commercial development in the Phoenix East Valley.

The five-story, 127-suite hotel is a joint venture between WSLMD and The Boyer Company. The first hotel to be constructed on the east side of Gateway Airport will serve airport travelers, visitors to Arizona Athletics Grounds (AAG) Sports Complex, and Gateway East tenants and customers. Gateway East was recently recognized as a gold-level REDI Site by the Site Selector’s Guild. That designation highlights the development’s readiness to attract global corporate users and reflects the area’s strong infrastructure, accessibility, and demographics, including a median household income of $158,718 within a one-mile radius.

"With world-class businesses like Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., XNRGY Climate Systems, and FlightSafety International now calling Gateway Airport home, the need for high-quality hospitality offerings is at an all-time high,” said Lt. Governor Regina Antone, Chairwoman of the MGAA Board of Directors. “This hotel will fill the need and demand from the surrounding community and supports our vision of a vibrant, globally competitive airport business park."

SpringHill Suites by Marriott is a premier all-suite hotel brand within the Marriott International portfolio, known for spacious, modern accommodations designed for business and leisure travelers. The Mesa Gateway Airport location will feature 127 suites and signature perks such as a complimentary hot breakfast, free high-speed Wi-Fi, a lobby bar, outdoor pool and fitness center.

"SpringHill Suites by Marriott Mesa Gateway will bring a modern, upscale lodging option to one of the region’s fastest-growing corridors," said Cole Smith, WSLMD’s Chief Development Officer. "We’re proud to partner with The Boyer Company and our exceptional project team to deliver a hotel that will create lasting value for Mesa, and support continued economic growth".

In addition to the hotel, The Boyer Company is also slated to begin construction on approximately 17,000 square feet of commercial retail and restaurant space, further expanding the dining and shopping options available to airport travelers, corporate tenants, and the community.

“Mesa continues to attract investment because of the strength of our region’s demographics-a highly educated workforce, strong household incomes, and continued growth in our communities,” said Mesa Mayor and MGAA Vice Chairman Mark Freeman. “Projects like this hotel, and the Gateway East Master Development, reflect the confidence in Mesa’s future and reinforces our position as one of the fastest growing and most competitive markets in the Southwest.”

Additional Comments:

"The addition of this premier hotel project marks an exciting new chapter for Gateway East. It serves as a vital first piece of the broader mixed-use vision we have for this 270-acre development. This project builds directly on the incredible momentum generated by the success of XNRGY Climate Systems and our upcoming commercial retail phase.

We are creating a destination where world-class companies and their visitors have immediate access to high-quality lodging and services. Gateway East will continue to develop into a primary employment and commerce hub for the Southeast Valley."
