Tower Contstruction

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority has recently completed an update to its Airport Master Plan. This Plan will serve as a guide for the airport's growth in the next 10-20 years. One component of the Master Plan is the construction of a new Air Traffic Control Tower. The current tower was built in 1970 and is too short and the cab is too small to keep up with the growth that has occured at Gateway Airport. The new tower will be 65 feet taller than the current tower, clocking in at 190 feet and will provide twice the space and unobstructed views for air traffic controllers. Construction started in November 2020 and will take 18 to 24 months to complete.
