Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority Hosts Airport Development Forum
More than 100 Participants Attend Three-Day Industry Event

MESA, Ariz. — Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is widely regarded as one of the fastest growing airports in the U.S. during the past decade.  As commercial passenger activity continues to climb, its owner, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority (PMGAA), is proactively planning the future development of more than one thousand acres of aeronautical and non-aeronautical land located adjacent to its runways and roadways.

As part of a strategic initiative called enVision Gateway, PMGAA invited leading international and national airport developers, operators, and investors; as well as other aviation-related companies to Mesa, Arizona on April 5-7, 2016 for a three-day event designed to create awareness and educate aviation industry leaders about the many development opportunities available at the growing airport.

Representatives from companies in Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, Puerto Rico, and across the United States were provided helicopter and bus tours of the Phoenix East Valley so they could experience first-hand the growing strength of the region’s thriving economy.  In addition to learning about development opportunities at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, attendees also heard presentations from leadership of the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC), Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), and a panel of East Valley Economic Development Directors.  At the conclusion of formal programming, select attendees participated in one-on-one meetings with airport staff and state/regional officials to discuss development opportunities in greater detail.

“We are pleased that so many industry leaders representing aviation companies around the globe were able to join us for our enVision Gateway event,” said PMGAA Executive Director/CEO Jane L. Morris, A.A.E.  “Many in attendance were surprised by Greater Phoenix’s robust economy and impressed with the facilities and infrastructure available at Gateway Airport.  The airport looks forward to continuing the dialogues started during the event.”

PMGAA Chairwoman Thelda Williams was energized by the success of the event.  “Anytime you can get that critical mass of aviation industry leadership together in one location, great things are bound to happen.  Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is aggressively looking for “partners” interested in being a part of the airport’s future success.”

One of the most important outcomes of enVision Gateway was the issuance of two Requests for Qualifications (RFQ) for Master Development Agreements (MDA) by PMGAA.  The Authority is soliciting qualified developers for its 300-acre Gateway Aerospace Park located immediately adjacent to the airfield and six-acres along the Ellsworth Road Retail Area.  Interested companies should contact PMGAA Business Development Director Mr. Shea Joachim at sjoachim@phxmesagateway.org or 480-988-7605 for more information.
