Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Reports Best July Ever
New Allegiant Destinations Popular with Visitors and Valley Air Travelers

MESA, Ariz. — Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport continued its impressive growth trajectory in July, notching the third month in a row of record-setting passenger activity. In July 2016, 132,334 passengers traveled through the airport, a 7% increase over last July and the eighth busiest month on record.  The top five busiest months of all time at Gateway Airport are in March, typically the most popular travel month of the year for visiting air travelers looking to escape the snow for spring training baseball, golfing, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

“July is a popular month for Valley residents to visit friends and family in other parts of the country. Allegiant’s low fares and the unparalleled convenience of Gateway Airport make it ‘Just Plane Easy’ to escape the summer heat,” said Interim Executive Director/CEO J. Brian O’Neill, A.A.E.

“A growing number of people are coming to the Valley through Gateway Airport,” Mesa, AZ Mayor John Giles, Chairman of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority added. “These visitors bolster the local economy by spending money on hotels, in restaurants and enjoying all that the Valley has to offer.”

Allegiant currently provides nonstop service to 38 destinations from Gateway Airport; including a recently-added flight to Sonoma County, California.  The Airport will serve over 1.4 million passengers this year and continues to improve upon its ‘Just Plane Easy’ reputation with a dedicated TSA Pre✓® Lane that opened in July.
